“you wouldn’t hire a carpenter who only uses a hammer: We tailor the treatment to the individual rather than to the problem. In our first sessions, we’ll explore what brought you to therapy and decide the best method to help you progress. We’ll examine thoughts and core beliefs. We can utilize the tools we find useful for your growth”

    About our treatments

    About Eating Disorder Treatment:

Because Eating Disorders manifest at the intersection of Physical, Behavioral, and Mental/Emotional health, the gold standard of care for Eating Disorder Treatment is a treatment team approach: a therapist, a medical provider, a Registered Dietitian, and a Psych Provider. For adolescents struggling with Eating Disorders, a family-based approach is encouraged.

After an initial evaluation, your therapist will have a collaborative conversation with you about the level of care appropriate for your situation. Recovery from an Eating Disorder is possible for many on the outpatient level. Our practice has built a strong network with other Eating Disorder Specializing Providers and treatment centers, and can help you connect with the care you need.

Your therapist will regularly follow up with your treatment team. We have even facilitated joint sessions with other providers.

When the behaviors of an Eating Disorder are managed, often the underlying issues emerge. We can help you hold the Eating Disorder accountable so we can build a new foundation, a life where an Eating Disorder isnt needed.

We use a Health At Every Size and Intuitive Eating lens: this approach replaces rigidity and invites flexibility in eating, body image, exercise, and life in general.

    About Using a Somatic Lens:

Somatic therapy is an umbrella term to describe therapies that go beneath the thinking self and into the sensing, feeling self. It’s been gaining traction, thanks to the work of many. My work is informed by Dr. Arielle Schwartz (Yoga for Trauma Recovery), Bessel Van Der Kolk (“The Body Keeps the Score”), Stephen Porges (Polyvagal Theory), and others.

A session might look like pausing the conversation to do a body scan or a breathing exercise while sitting on the couch, reminding us to reconnect to ourselves.

It might look like grabbing some colored pencils and creating an image to describe a felt-sense, allowing ourselves to not need words.

It could look like arranging pillows, yoga props, and blankets around us to help our nervous system register safety.

It might look like a spontaneous “shake it out” moment with music to remind us we are alive.

    I’m here for it.
